RFID and Smart Labels:
Greater Reliability and Security

Identifying and Tracking the Product

Smart labels enhance the consumer experience, opening up new routes for personalised marketing, operational efficiency and ever-greater transparency of the product and its supply chain.

The Different Types of Smart Labels

Smart labels have revolutionised the world of packaging and product identification.

Their function is not just informational; through the incorporation of an RFID tag, they allow:

  • Tracking of the product in real time to efficiently manage inventory and security of the procurement chain;
  • Simplification of direct interaction with consumers, providing immediate access to information, usage instructions and promotions;
  • Prevention of product theft;
  • Protection of products from counterfeiting and control of the grey market.

RFID Labels

RFID (Radio Frequency IDentification) is used in all goods sectors, thanks to its versatility. Through a radiofrequency detector, it allows managing of inventory in real time, recording the state of the goods in the warehouse, and keeping track of stock, ensuring correct management of the distribution channels and points of sale. Thanks to the uniqueness of non-clonable tags, smart labels are an excellent anti-counterfeiting tool.

RF Labels

RF (Radio Frequency) technology is used primarily against shoplifting: if the labels applied to the products are not deactivated, they are read by the dedicated barriers installed to warn of potential theft. The type of RF label is tailor made with tags and materials chosen on the basis of the product to which it must be applied.

HF and UHF Labels

HF (High Frequency) labels are used primarily in applications for access control, payments, luggage control, laundry management and libraries.

UHF (Ultra High Frequency) labels make use of technology which provides a significantly greater reading distance than HF, and for this reason they are preferred in the logistics sector.

NFC Labels

NFC (Near Field Communication) labels represent a revolution in how we interact with products. Thanks to their ability to be read by the majority of modern mobile phones, these labels allow to establish direct one-to-one communication with the consumer, involving them in personalised and interactive content. NFC is used in a range of fields, such as verification of the authenticity of products, improvement of interaction, loyalty, and purchasing experience for customers.
