Cosmoprof 2023: Eurolabel presents the “People Included” Inclusive Label

At Cosmoprof 2023, Eurolabel presented “People Included”, an innovative concept for inclusive packaging.

After the official launch of a teaser version of the “People Included” project at Cosmoprof 2022, this year Eurolabel is presenting the first prototype of its inclusive label to visitors to Cosmoprof 2023.

Production of the first prototype less than a year from the official launch of the “People Included” project is undoubtedly a sign of how important it is for brands to implement new inclusive packaging solutions, passing through the label.

Not Only Braille for Inclusive Packaging

Thanks to its partnership with the Fondazione Istituto dei Ciechi di Milano (Milan institute for the blind foundation), Eurolabel has implemented alternative systems to Braille for communicating to the visually impaired through labels. Indeed, not all blind and partially sighted persons know this language.

The search for universal communication systems which help to make the label more usable and understandable to all is the concept of the “People Included” project. Through dedicated research and development, Eurolabel created a label able to “talk” to as many people as required, indiscriminately.

The R&D phase led to the development, with the aid of AI, of a digital audio-video-text label which allows the content to be read and/or listened to, depending on personal preference.

Inclusion also Involves Fonts and Colours

Eurolabel’s inclusive label features dyslexia-friendly fonts to facilitate typographic legibility of text.

The typeface is often considered the first obstacle that dyslexic readers have to overcome in order to decipher writing. Other typographical variables which influence the reading process are the spacing between letters, words and lines of the text, and the number of words per line.

Colours also represent a key factor in Eurolabel’s inclusive label: the colour choices indeed facilitate reading of the text by everyone, including the partially sighted.

A blend of characteristics skilfully combined by the Smith Lumen creative agency which handled the graphic design of the label.

Inclusive Labels: a Social, Economic and Reputational Value for Brands

With its inclusive label, Eurolabel aims to offer brands a universal solution which efficiently meets some key criteria for the packaging sector.

Benefits of the “People Included” Project:
The first benefit is also giving consumers with visual deficits the ability to distinguish between the products on the shelf, and to know their characteristics in order to make their purchasing decision.

The second benefit is fighting the packaging rage which leads ever-more consumers to avoid purchasing products with complex packaging, thus causing significant losses to brands.

A third benefit, with a major social value, is contributing to the evolution of the world of packaging from a more inclusive standpoint.

The inclusive “People Included” label therefore brings with it a major social significance which can undoubtedly improve brand reputations in the market.
